Welcome to the Department of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University (JU)!

 Established in 1985, it is the first department of anthropological learning in Bangladesh. Currently, the JU anthropology offers four years’ honors and one year’s masters degree programmes. Students are also admitted for M Phil and PhD progrrammes. Since its inception the department has given highest priority to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and research, alongside establishing networks and contacts with other universities and research institutions, including formal link programmes with overseas universities and institutions.

 The department has experienced as well as new faculty members with specialization in different areas that are of core concern and contemporary relevance to the discipline.
