Department of Botany

Academic development in the area of Biological Sciences is a thrust area in the twenty first century. Currently the Department has 25 teachers, among those 14 teachers having PhD degree in different areas of Plant Sciences from international reputed universities. Department of Botany started its journey in 1986, having modern laboratories and field facilities. The number of publications of the teachers stood over 500, in national and international journals.Currently, Dept. of Botany is scored highest in serving the BCS cadre (General) in the Faculty of Biological Sciences.

About Department

The Department of Botany possesses updated academic curricula to meet the challenge of the next decades. Classrooms are well equipped with modern teaching aids, such as multimedia projectors, audio-visual documentaries, natural documentations, laboratory manuals. Department consists of eight research laboratories for postgraduate and a common laboratory for undergraduate students. Department has collaborative research works with other universities and research institutes. M.Sc, M.Phil and PhD research works are done collaboratively with DU, BSMRAU, BCSIR, BARI, BRRI, BJRI, SRDI, BFRI, BLRI, BTRI, DAE, SAIC, BADC, reputed NGO and so on.
