Md. Rabiul Islam Associate Professor, Department of Law & Justice
Md Rabiul Islam, an Associate Professor of Law at Jahangirnagar University (JU), Dhaka, Bangladesh, is involved in and passionate about research and teaching in constitutional law and comparative legal discourses. He also held the position of Chairperson of the Department of Law & Justice, JU twice, and the office of Dean of JU Law Faculty once. He did his LLB and first LLM from University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh but bagged a specialized LLM in Comparative Constitutional Law from Central European University, Budapest-Vienna. He is now pursuing his doctoral study at the School of Law in City University of Hong Kong. Mr. Islam has a sizeable number of publications in the areas of constitutional law including ministerial responsibility, academic freedom, comparative federalism, critical approach to corporate social responsibility, comparative equality, racial discrimination in postcolonial states etc. Prior to joining to Jahangirnagar University, he previously held the academic position at University of Rajshahi and University of Asia Pacific, as well as the adjunct faculty role in Bangladesh Police Academy, Bangladesh University of Professionals and some other reputed private universities time to time. He experienced to work with the largest Bangladeshi legal NGO named Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) as an advisor. He also writes in the renowned Bangladeshi dailies regularly on various issues that have been accounted for injustice and discrimination in societies. He is currently holding the position of President to Bangladesh Students Association in Hong Kong (BSAHK) as the reflection of his extra-curricular activities. Besides his professional position in legal academia, he intends to serve the society as a rights-activist.
