PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Mrs Sultana took her birth in Dhaka in a muslim family. Her father was M A Samad of Gaibandha district and mother was Mst Hasna Hena Begum of Jamalpur district and she was the the youngest among 5 siblings. Mrs Sultana started her first schooling at Sher – e Bangle Girl’s High School and College (former Narishikkha Mondir Girl’s High School) located at Hattkhola, Dhaka and completed class II – IV under full free school scholarship. Then she got admitted into Qumrunnessa Govt Girl’s High School located at Avoidas lane, Dhaka and did her matriculation (in Sc.) in the year of 1974 from Dhaka board with an excellent results. She achieved class VIII merit scholarship and in matriculation 3 letters in Gen. Math,  Elec. Math and Physics securing ~70% of total 1000 marks. She obtained board scholarship. Thereafter she got admitted into Central Women’s College and University located at Avoidas lane, Dhaka and did her Intermediate (Sc.) in the year of 1976 from Dhaka board. At this exam she obtained 71% marks  securing 15th position in the merit list among the females and henceforth obtained merit scholarship.   After passing Intermediate she went to DMC, H (Dhaka) to be a Doctor for fulfilling her mothers choice. She was positioned 99th among 5000 students taking part in the admission test.  Unfortunate she could not comply with medical course. As a result she left DMC, H after losing 1 year started a new academic  journey with a new life. She got married in the year of 1979 and continued higher studies. Mrs Sultana  was graduated in the year of 1981 (exam held in 1983) from Department of Pharmacy, DU and stood 5th position in order of merit and secured 1st class and obtained J J walker scholarship. She in the progression of her studies obtained Dhaka University Chancellor’s merit award for achieving 1st class and securing the 1st position (Group A) at the Masters level from the same department in the year of 1982 (exam held in 1985/86). After completion of her academic journey she joined May and Bsaker Inc as an Asstt Quality Control Manager. As she by that time became a mother of two children she could not continued her job and later on joined Department of Pharmacy, JU as a lecturer in the year of 1988. Mrs Sultana was offered  AIDAB (Australian International Development Bureau) merit scholarship and did MS in Applied Pharmacy in the year of 1991-1993 at the school of Pharmacy and Bio-medical Sc (former SAIT) located at Adelaide, South Australia. Then she returned and rejoined the earlier job place and at the level of Assoc. Prof she was offered with IDB (Islamic Development Bank) scholarship and did Ph.D in Pharmacy in the year of 1996-2000 at King’s College London, UK where she was awarded with Pilpel Bursery award 1999. Now she is continuing her job at Department of Pharmacy, JU as a regular faculty. Meantime she worked  appointed as founder Chairman at Southeast University Dhaka Bangladesh, as a Deputy Dean at the Kulliyyah  of Pharmacy, Islamic University of Malaysia and as a regular faculty at Northsouth University, Dhaka Bangladesh.
