The Department of Business Administration (DBA) of Jahangirnagar University is the pioneer in introducing the four-year BBA Program in Bangladesh. Founded in 1991-92 Academic year with BBA Program, the department launched MBA Program in 1995-96 session. The BBA Program covers 4 years (eight semesters) while the MBA Program is for one year (three semesters).

With a view to cope with real world business situation, teaching method is rigorous. Class lectures are therefore supplemented by case studies, fieldwork base assignments, industrial tours, presentations, workshops, seminars, classrooms visits by business professionals, sessions and broad research works on different economic issues of Bangladesh. Course curriculum is flexible so that new necessary field of study can easily be incorporated with every kind of logistic support.

In MBA Program, each student undergoes an extensive research and arranges a seminar after completion of second semester. This is the first time when a Bangladeshi university incorporated seminar as a course in the academic curriculum. The seminar program develops academic as well as professional skills of the students and they get an opportunity to share their views with renowned personalities of reputed business houses. The students sit for an examination based on these seminar papers.
