PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Md. Alamgir Hossen Bhuiyan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. He earned his PhD in Environmental Science from Hokkaido University, Japan, where his research focused on urban informatics, geospatial science, ecosystem services, and technomass management using advanced remote sensing and GIS technologies.

With over a decade of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Bhuiyan has taught students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds and is known for his effective, student-centered teaching methods. His academic expertise spans environmental management, disaster risk reduction, satellite navigation systems, and the application of GIS and Remote sensing in climate change mitigation and sustainable urban planning.

He completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University, . Dr. Bhuiyan has led multiple research projects funded by national agencies such as the Ministry of Science and Technology and the University Grants Commission and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. He has also actively contributed to training programs organized by institutions like BARD and Disaster Forum.

Dr. Bhuiyan is a life member of the Bangladesh National Geographical Association and continues to mentor students and conduct research in geospatial sciences and environmental sustainability.
