PROFILE

RESEARCH INTEREST

My research interests lie at the intersection of linguistics, TESOL, discourse studies, and communication, with a particular focus on how language operates as a socially situated and pedagogically mediated practice. I am especially interested in examining classroom discourse, teacher–learner interaction, and the multimodal dimensions of meaning-making in language education contexts. Drawing on approaches from discourse analysis, pragmatics, and applied linguistics, my work seeks to explore how identities, power relations, and ideologies are negotiated through spoken, written, and visual forms of communication in ELT classrooms.

A growing strand of my research engages with TESOL and language pedagogy in multilingual and postcolonial contexts, with attention to issues such as language ideology, teacher positioning, assessment practices, and the impact of sociocultural factors on language learning. I am also interested in contemporary developments in communication studies, particularly how digital and visual modes reshape pedagogic discourse and learner engagement.

Overall, my research aims to contribute to theoretically grounded yet pedagogically relevant insights that can inform teacher education, curriculum design, and critical language awareness, especially within South Asian and Global South educational contexts.
