PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Professor Dr. Md. Nuhu Alam is now the Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Jahangirnagar University (JU). He is involved in teaching and research in Mycology, Plant Virology, Plant Pathology and Mushroom Sciences at the Department of Botany, JU.

He obtained his B. Sc (Hon’s) and M. Sc (Thesis group) from the Department of Botany, University of Rajshahi. He received M. Phil degree from Jahangirnagar University and successfully completed his Ph. D. from Incheon National University, Republic of Korea, with distinction. Dr. Alam received two post-doctoral fellowship awards from The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and Korean Government. He was a visiting Professor of Incheon National University, Korea. At the very beginning of his career, he served Ciba Geigy (Bangladesh) Ltd. Then he joined at Jahangirnagar University as a Lecturer in the field of Mycology, Plant Pathology and Crop Protection in 1997. He has a significant contribution for the establishment of Laboratory in Mycology and Plant Pathology and several times received funds from Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

He has published one research Book from Scholar Press and around 100 research articles in peer-reviewed national and international Journals including Phytopathology, Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, Mycology, Molecules, Research in Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medicinal Mushrooms, Mycobiology etcHe participated in 14 International Symposia with scientific papers presentation held in various foreign countries and achieved best speaker awards several times. A good number of M. Phil and Ph. D researchers are working under his supervision.
